LWRO

The Lebanese Observatory for Workers and Employees Rights (LWRO) is a Beirut-based research and advocacy organization focused on labor conditions and rights issues across Lebanon. From February 2025 through February 2026 I worked with them as their Arabic-to-English translator on a UN Women funded research report covering women's leadership and civic participation.

Research translation is not the same problem as documentary translation or game localization. The audience is a researcher or policymaker who needs to cite the source accurately. A misrendered statistic, a softened claim, or a flattened nuance changes how the research is read and used. The work is to keep the original's evidentiary precision intact while making the prose readable in the target language.

The report dealt with complex legal, socio-economic, and policy content, the kind of material where word choice carries weight. The standard the engagement was held to was explicit: precision, neutrality, and sensitivity appropriate to human rights discourse. A translator working at this register cannot soften claims, smooth over nuances, or adjust framing for the target-language reader's comfort. The job is to deliver the source's evidentiary weight intact, in the target language, where a policymaker or researcher can cite it and trust it. The final translation was accepted without revisions and delivered publication-ready.

This is the most recent of my translation engagements and the closest in spirit to The Architect AI. Both share the same conviction: source languages routinely treated as a second priority deserve work done to a first-priority standard. That conviction sits inside the platform's bilingual commitment to Arabic and English at full parity from day one.
